HalleyAnna is a singer-songwriter who grew up around many of the legends of Americana and folk music, deep in the heart of Texas. HalleyAnna began playing music as a child along side her brother and sister, looking up to female performers such as Emmylou Harris and June Carter. She began playing bars and coffeeshops around San Marcos, south of Austin, at the ripe age of 12 and soon after, started opening up for acts such as Todd Snider, Slaid Cleaves, and Hayes Carll to get a feel for playing honky-tonks and dancehalls as a songwriter, where she developed character and collected a few stories to tell along the way. HalleyAnna now performs with her full band around her new home in Austin.
She has been playing guitar and writing songs for more than ten years, singing in church, honky-tonks, and dance halls, as she has honed her skills and developed her signature sound. Her songs are distinctively country. Growing up around the Central Texas live music scene, she was highly influenced by the diverse genre which is Americana/Texas music. While majoring in English with a creative writing emphasis at Texas State University- San Marcos, HalleyAnna co-hosted a popular radio show "The Other Side of Americana" on KTSW, the university radio station, and won the Texas State Student Songwriter Competition – Kerrville Folk Festival, in 2009.
So proud of her heritage, she had an outline of the Great State of Texas tattooed on her finger, and named her first band after the original Tennessee Volunteers, who stepped up to help win the Texas War of Independence in 1836.
HalleyAnna’s first full-length album, The Country, produced by Corby Schaub (Ryan Bingham), is rich with honesty and emotion that is as refreshing as it is unique. The Country celebrates HalleyAnna's songwriting skills, as well as some of Americana's most talented musicians. The Country also features Corby Schaub electric guitar and mandolin, Brady Black on fiddle, and Ricky Ray Jackson on the steel guitar.
