In A Nutshell

HalleyAnna is a Texas singer-songwriter who has been writing and performing since she was 12 years old. She has toured with and opened shows for Todd Snider, Randy Rogers, Hayes Carll, Sisters Morales, Monte Montgomery, Steve Poltz, Robyn Ludwick, Walt Wilkins, Shelley King, and many more of her songwriting heroes. Inspired by Townes Van Zandt and Loretta Lynn, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Emmy Lou Harris, Doug Sahm and Sippie Wallace, and and a host of others, she brings a fresh, yet familiar sound to her music.  Click here for more information. 

The Songwriter

 HalleyAnna literally cut her teeth on a mic cord. In addition to her own recordings, HalleyAnna's music has been recorded by Sons of Fathers, and performed by several other regional artists.
She has also done harmony work on many album projects and live performances.
She has cowritten with Kent Finlay, Pake Rossi, David Beck, Ashley Monical, Colin Colby, Marshall Jon Anderson, Paul Cauthen, Josh Buckley, and many more.

All of HalleyAnna's songs are published with Paper Napkin Music,  BMI.

The Musician

HalleyAnna plays a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe guitar and uses Elixer Custom Light strings. 
She also plays a little harmonica, bass, saxophone, accordion and piano, and has been known to experiment with tamborines and maracas.

The Shows

HalleyAnna is available for concerts,  private parties, quiet listening rooms and rowdy festivals. She has played weddings and funerals, quinceañeras and beer joints. She can play solo, as a duo or trio, or with a full band, depending on your event. Check her schedule here.

It's A Family Tradition

HalleyAnna has a degree in creative writing from Texas State University. She was named the Texas State Collegiate Songwriter at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 2009, and she has been selected to perform official showcases at The Folk Alliance International Conference in Memphis and Kansas City; the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, The Old Settlers Festival in Dripping Springs,  the Kerrville Folk Festival, and countless other major music events.  She has played and had residencies from  Luckenbach, Texas to New York City, and from Santa Fe to Charlotte.

HalleyAnna was named for Halley's Comet and songwriter Susanna Clark. Writing and music come naturally to HalleyAnna. Her dad, Kent Finlay was a songwriter and mentor for many rising Texas artists. Her mother, Diana Finlay Hendricks, is a journalist and gifted writer with a terminal degree in Texas music and culture, who has been a regular contributor to Real South, Lone Star Music, and other southern and southwestern publications. She is a collaborating author on Poets and Pickers: The Songwriters of Texas (Texas A&M University Press, 2016) and is currently writing the Delbert McClinton biography.  HalleyAnna's sister, Jenni Finlay, owns Jenni Finlay Promotions, manages James McMurtry, among others, and has a concert series, a record label and a production company;  and her brother, Sterling  Finlay is a rock solid bass player, who has played with a plethora of Texas bands..  HalleyAnna's loyal blue heeler is named for one of her songwriting heroes, Townes Van Zandt.
